About Teke

Taneka LaShay “Teke” Hall is a lifelong resident of Gary, Indiana and a proud graduate
of Emerson Visual and Performing Arts 2002. Known by many as “Teke,” she is
someone who truly understands the heart of her community and the everyday realities
families face.
Taneka has always valued education and personal growth. She earned a Business
Management degree from Ivy Tech 2002 while still in high school, later completed
Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy training at Everest College 2007, and went on to earn
her Applied Science degree from Worsham College of Mortuary Science 2026. She is
currently continuing her education at Indiana University Northwest, where she is
pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs.
With experience in finance and administration, Taneka helps manage the budgeting,
scheduling, and financial operations for her family’s business, Hightower
Transportation. She also serves faithfully in ministry alongside her husband at the
House of God Church and ministers through music as a gospel singer.
Taneka has been married for 16 years and is a devoted wife and mother who is deeply
rooted in faith, family, and community. Her message is simple: “I’m everyday people.”
She believes leadership should be humble, compassionate, and focused on helping others with dignity and respect.
